Frequently Asked Questions

Who uses MyDevData?

keyboard_arrow_down

Consultants and consulting firms in the "International Development Business", in other words, professionals who want to work as consultants for:

  • Multilateral Lending Banks (MLBs) like the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, African Development Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, or Islamic Development Bank;
  • Bilateral donors like United States Agency for International Development (USAID), US Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), UK Department for International Development (DfID), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), or DANIDA (Denmark)
  • UN Organizations

Why do consultants use MyDevData?

keyboard_arrow_down

Consultants use MyDevData because it allows for the creation, in minutes, of highly tailored CVs and capabilities that once took hours to produce.

Ok, but what can it really do?

keyboard_arrow_down

Some of its best features include:

  • Easy filtering: Easily create a customized CV or set of capabilities statements, filtering by the country or type of work you did (category).
  • Easy ordering: Order the projects in your CV or capabilities statements by date or type of work (category), before exporting it into Word, minimizing the cutting, pasting and reformatting that often has to be done.
  • Quality control: If you find an error in your CV or a capabilities statement, correct it once and only once.
  • Refine your sales pitch: Save alternative descriptions of the project work you have done, and export a CV or capabilities statement with whichever is the most relevant description.
  • Save time on formatting: You enter your most recent projects once and they can easily be added to your CV or capabilities statements in World Bank, ADB, and a number of other standard formats required in our industry. Very little, if any, formatting is required. You can do in minutes what would typically otherwise take hours.
  • Categorize projects any way you want. Filters can be applied to any categories you create, and projects can be grouped by these categories (sectors, client types, etc.). Want a category for 'most successful projects'? You can create that, and filter or sort by those.
  • Keep it mobile: MyDevdata simplifies the process enough that it can be used on most tablets or smartphones. If you get a request for your CV or capabilities statement, you can crank it out in minutes from your phone or tablet as you transit, or from the beachside bar.

How does MyDevData reduce the effort required to produce CVs and project summaries?

keyboard_arrow_down

MyDevData helps automate the most labor-intensive and important parts of proposals. Each account has its own content repository which can be quickly searched, sorted and filtered to create highly-tailored proposal documents. Once you are ready to export, it functions much like the old-fashioned "mail merge" people once used to produce form letters or other documents combining "boilerplate" information with customized information specific to each person or circumstance.

What do you mean by "capabilities statements"?

keyboard_arrow_down

Capabilities statements are detailed descriptions of the previous work a consulting has done. The summaries include information on the work done by the consultant, the dates in which it was done, the budget, client, and any associated firms. Consulting firms and their clients may refer to these project summaries as "DACONS" (data on consulting firms), "quals", "project thumbnails" or other terms. Note that the DACON templates are available for consulting firm subscribers only, not for individual subscribers.

What templates do you offer?

keyboard_arrow_down

The templates we offer can be seen here. The number of templates available to each user depends, in part, on the plan they select.

What if you don't have a template I need?

keyboard_arrow_down

Just contact us. If there is enough demand for a particular template, we'll add it for free. If you want something highly customized, we'll do it for a small fee.

Who enters the data?

keyboard_arrow_down

If you subscribe to a "Pro" account, we do it for you. We enter as much data as you give us when you sign-up. As part of the sign-up process, we ask you to upload your CV. We then enter that data for you. You then make any future changes, edits, or additions.

Will you help me win more work?

keyboard_arrow_down

We can't guarantee that you will win new work by using our service, but we can assure you that you will spend much less time and effort customizing your CVs and project summaries. The outputs are automatically formatted according to the requirements of various clients you may want to approach, and the MyDevData system makes it easy to tailor your documents to the needs of any particular project. We help you worry less about the mechanics of formatting, and let you worry more about the substance of your CVs and project summaries.
